Leadership Team


The leadership of the firm is provided by professional engineers who have extensive experience in the HSE fields as indicted in their brief profiles below. In addition to the staff noted below, the firm associates itself with experienced Doctoral, Masters and Undergraduate Degree staff to assist and fulfill project requirements. All projects are performed under the direct supervision and on-site management of the principals or key staff members.

Mr Gandhi 


Mr. Gandhi is a trained Civil including Structural and Environmental Engineer and has practiced in the oil industry since 1990. He is a Graduate of University College London ( University of London ) where he attained a BSc (Eng) Hons. Degree in Civil including Structural and Environmental Engineering.


He is the Managing Director of Nutek Solutions Ltd. a post that he has held since January 2004. Prior to that he worked for Chevron for 14 years as the Regional Health, Safety and Environment Manager – East Africa and the Indian Ocean . During his stay at Chevron he managed numerous Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Studies for new to industry service stations and conducted several internal and external oil industry HSE integrated audits in Kenya , Uganda , Tanzania , Mauritius , Reunion , South Africa , Zimbabwe and Zambia .


He successfully managed a project to conduct environmental site assessments of 20 service stations and 7 terminals and depots in 2003. In 1999 Mr. Gandhi was responsible for managing a US$100,000 site assessment and remediation project for Chevron in Kenya . Mr. Gandhi is a licensed Lead Expert with the NEMA in Kenya and a member of several local and international environmental professional bodies. Mr. Gandhi is further a certified Safety and Health Adviser licensed by the DOHSS under the Ministry of Labour.


Mr. Gandhi is a well known and established personality in the oil industry in East Africa having worked with all major oil companies in conducting world class HSE courses for the industry to improve their in-company HSE management systems and is currently the primary HSE trainer for the Petroleum Institute of East Africa . Mr. Gandhi is a recognized International Maritime Organization Consultant having worked for them in Kenya and Tanzania . Additionally Mr. Gandhi sits on a number of crucial Government committees in Kenya related to the petroleum sub-sector to advance the use of best available practices and beast available technologies in the HSE field.


He is currently the Chairman of the Petroleum Sector Environment Committee (PSEC) in NEMA and also the Chairman of the Kenya Occupational Health and Safety Association (KOHSA).


Mr. Gandhi is well traveled and has gained extensive HSE working experience from several parts around the world including the USA (where he was based for 2 years), Singapore , Dubai , Malaysia and Thailand .





Kurrent Technologies Ltd. is the sister company of Nutek and operates from the same premises. Its principal – Eng. James Mwangi worked in the multi-national oil industry for over 14 years in various disciplines both in Kenya and overseas.


A Mechanical Engineer by profession, Eng. Mwangi has designed and built numerous service stations, depots and terminals in East Africa for multinational and local oil companies. He is a registered Lead Expert and has carried out a number of EIAs for oil companies in Kenya .


Eng. Mwangi is well known in the oil industry and is also a Director of the Petroleum Institute of East Africa . He brings a wealth of knowledge to Nutek in terms of his engineering and environmental expertise gained over the years working for some of the largest energy companies in the world.


Eng. Mwangi sits on a number of Government and Industry technical committees and subscribes to a number of local and international professional associations.




Eur. Ing. Trilok Gandhi is a trained Civil and Structural Engineer who has practiced in the oil industry since 1965. He is an accomplished figure having designed and constructed over 150 service stations and several oil terminals and depots in East Africa for Shell/BP over a 28 year period. His last assignment with Shell and BP Kenya was that of Chief Engineer, a position he held for 11 years prior to his retirement in 1991.


He has trained extensively in the UK , Germany and Denmark in the petroleum sub-sector as an engineer and has extensive working experience of engineering practices in those countries.


Eur. Ing. Gandhi is a registered engineer of the Federation of European National Engineering Associations, is a registered engineer with the U.K. Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE), is a registered engineer in Kenya with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and a member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK).


Eur. Ing. Gandhi is further a licensed engineer in Kenya and Europe and a member of several local and international professional bodies.
